Busy, busy, busy

I'm staffed!  I'm working on an M&A deal called Project Gold, so you all know the drill.  I can't talk about my client, what the project is all about, etc.  But suffice it to say that I'm excited about the opportunity, think it's right up my alley but will also provide some room for professional growth and learning.  We're in the target screening phase of the M&A cycle, with some very interesting work to be done.  I'll be responsible for the workstream that's building the model for the project - yay!  I'm certainly happy that I'm on actual client work and not doing eminence building work, which was something that the HR team had mentioned to me as a possibility if they couldn't find me client work.  It sounds like it will be a very busy project, which will be a good thing and a bad thing.  Hopefully my hours won't be TOO late because I do want to have time to enjoy Mumbai, but I'm hoping that I'm able to strike a nice balance.

The funny thing about my project is that my manager is currently splitting his time between Chicago and Mumbai.  Small world, right?  He's in Chicago right now but comes to Mumbai every month or so for a week because his family lives here - or something - I'm honestly not entirely sure what his situation is.  Regardless, how weird is it that I move to India and end up working for a guy who is spending most of his time in Chicago?  He's still technically out of the Mumbai office, and this is definitely an Indian project, but it's still a funny coincidence.  The rest of my team is working out of Delhi, which is kind of a disapointment - it would have been nice to have a local team, but oh well.  Maybe I'll end up going to Delhi at some point - who knows.

Everything else is going well.  The new apartment is nice - my bed is more comfortable in my new room, which is much appreciated.  The shower is fully integrated with the rest of the bathroom - meaning that there is no divider on the floor to contain the water, so when I shower it floods the floor of the entire bathroom.  The shower curtain is pretty much rendered useless in this situation, except for maybe to keep the splashback to a minimum.  We went to yoga again last night - this time Isha (the co-worker who recommended the studio to us) came with us.  After yoga we went to dinner at a really good Chinese restaurant that Isha recommended - the food was absolutely delicious.  We had a lemon coriander soup that was thick and green with herbs and vegetables and then these vegetable dumpling/patty things in a soy sauce.  We will definitely be going back there - I think I dreamt about the soup last night.

Our first roommate picture - super sweaty from yoga, but at least you can kind of see the soup on the table...

Ok well I have lots of work to do now, so I'll make this a shorter post.  Thanks for the emails - keep them coming!
